Overall, I thought going to London was an excellent experience. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to experience another culture with people who, like myself, were unfamiliar with the everyday life. The best part of the trip, however, was the new found appreciation I had for America after the trip was over. The things I experienced in London that were different than home were not necessarily bad, they just certainly what I was accustomed to. For example, I was definitely not used to having to search for a public restroom (or maybe even having to pay to use one). I also was a little surprised by the amount of PDA I witnessed during the trip. This may have seemed secondary to some, but I was shocked at the general difference of this as opposed to Americans. With that being said, I loved every second of being in London, and can't wait to go back with my family one day and share the culture with them.
i believe that we were in London for the perfect amount of time. I saw pretty much everything that I wanted to see in (almost) two weeks full of very busy days. I also think that we were at a perfect age for the experience. We could appreciate the diversity and differences between their culture and ours. Being open to try new things made the trip much more enjoyable. I loved the sightseeing and learning how to use the Tube. I was a little "iffy" at first on trying it out but after a couple of days rode it everywhere. It was very convenient. I liked that class was unconventional and flexible. Having lecture in the breakfast area was a nice change to sitting in a classroom. Especially after the most recent olympics being held there, it was amazing to get the chance to see all the major attractions they showed on TV up close. A few times I remember thinking how strange it was that we were standing on a land mass across an ocean from our friends and family. How often do you get to experience something like this? Overall, the trip was incredible. Taking the trip with people from different schools was awesome as well. I think most of us definitely made some friends that we hope to stay in contact with! Studying abroad was a great way to visit London and if I had the chance I would most certainly go again!
my overall London experiance was awesome it was a good amount of time to get the things that you wanted to get done done. and i liked the way that some of the museums tied into the class and how flexible the class was to allow us to do the things like go to greenwich and see the olympic park that are a little farther away and without the flexibility would not have been possible. I also liked that the area was so diverse with other countries on the tube you could hear italian french etc. I also liked how easy it was to get from one point in the city to the other and how clean the public transportation was. It is something that i think people should model there subway and public transportation after. I truly enjoyed the experience and if given the opportunity would go again in a heart beat.
I thought that London was an excellent experience and was the perfect location for a biomedical and research ethics class. The wide range of museums complemented the material well. I really enjoyed how the class was structured while in London. It was laid back for most of the assignments which allowed us to go experience many of the sights of London. The location of the hotel was fantastic for sightseeing. The fact that we were only a block from the tube made it easy to get anywhere in the city. My favorite parts of London were visiting the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, and just overall exploring the city. The experience was made so much better that we had a great and adventurous group. I also really enjoyed the day trips to Canterbury, Dover and Cambridge. These were perhaps my favorite part of the trip overall. London is a city that has something for everyone, whether it be shopping, eating, drinking, sightseeing, or just relaxing. I could not think of a better location to study abroad in and I cherish the opportunity of having had the opportunity to study abroad there.
I'm truly grateful to have had the chance to study in London and to have met all of you! I think one of my favorite parts was seeing different people with various backgrounds and interests all enjoy the same city together. For instance, I feel like every person in our class really connected with at least one part of the trip. The more scientific/medical experiences, such as the DNA model at the London Science Museum, were appealing to Gina and Emily, whereas the nurses could easily connect to the exhibits at the Florence Nightingale Museum. For Luke, I know he had visiting the Tate Modern on his checklist before we left the States, but I think he realized that he prefers contemporary art over modern art. Also, I can't forget how practically everyone in our class loved Super Dry. Personally, my highlights were the Greenwich market (it makes me hungry just thinking about it), Stamford Bridge, and of course, the IceBar with all of you! Honestly, I would give up every Winter break to do this trip all over again.. next year anyone?!
I had an amazing London experience, and would recommend this trip to anyone. I learned a lot about myself and my future career while there. It gave me a new appreciation for the way things are in America and also helped me to see the many improvements that need to be made. This trip allowed me to learn a lot, but I was also able to have fun and really enjoy the whole experience. I loved that we were able to be independent for most of the trip so that we could do what we desired. I also really enjoyed our class and the different experiences we had. My favorite learning experience was going to the the Florence Nightingale museum because it really helped me to understand nursing and how much it has changed. I really enjoyed going to Cambridge and learning about the university. I would transfer there in a heartbeat! If I ever get the opportunity to go to London again I would definitely do it, but maybe in the summertime. This will definitely be an experience that I will never forget.
Traveling to London over winter break was one of the best experiences I’ve had in college. Having the opportunity to study abroad was an enriching and fulfilling experience. I would recommend this to anyone. Even though it was only two weeks I learned so much, not only about Biomedical Ethics but also about another culture. London is a very diverse city filled with all different cultures. We tried many new foods and met many new people. My favorite thing we did was our trip to Greenwich! We left from Tower Park and rode on a boat on the Thames River. We walked through the park up the big hill to see the Prime Meridian and went to the flea market, where I bought some boots and ate the most delicious food! There were many vendors that had crepes, chocolate covered pineapple and strawberries, and nutella on mini pancakes. The food may have been what won me over! I can’t wait to travel abroad again!
I had an amazing experience in London. I have nothing to complain about as far as my experience while I was over there. People have asked me if it is a trip that I would recommend and I always respond by saying absolutely and that it was the best experience of my college career and by far my favorite trip. I tell people that studying abroad is, in my opinion, the best way to learn and the best thing that one can do for themselves while in college. I have always believed that experiences are worth so much more than just book knowledge. While in London, I had the opportunity to experience an entirely different culture, view some of the most famous historic sites and artifacts in the world, and gain a better understanding of what the world is really like outside of the United States. All of this was accomplished while simultaneously learning about philosophy, challenging my own beliefs on Biomedical and research ethics, and even changing some of my beliefs about Health Care. It was a great way to learn about philosophy and a great way to experience London. My favorite experience had to be the visit to Canterbury Cathedral. It was probably the coolest piece of architecture I have ever seen and the whole experience was great. I even miss getting up in the morning and riding the tube. I also really enjoyed the Science Museum and Cambridge. Overall, I would love to make it back to London and also to see the rest of the Europe.
Going to London was something way different than I've ever experienced before. Not only experiencing the culture and the city, but doing it with people that I've never met before. This was my first trip overseas, and it definitely won't be my last. I was fascinated by all of the places and the people we came across, and I have so many unforgettable memories from this trip. It was amazing how quickly these two weeks flew by. The city has so much to offer, and although we visited so many sites in London, I feel like it was only the tip of the iceberg. My favorite part of the time I was there was visiting Hillsong Church, it was truly an awesome atmosphere and I wish you guys could have went with me! Still, every day had something unique and exciting, and I was never bored. I also loved the trips we made out-of-city. Canterbury and Dover were both beautiful and I enjoyed the history behind these locations. Cambridge was very interesting, and if I ever go back, I hope to tour some of these colleges and see their interiors in person. Both Canterbury and Cambridge were both very interesting cities. They were filled with closely-pack shopping centers, and also had their share of beautiful and historic architecture. I loved the architecture in London too, there were so many Victorian-style buildings everywhere we went! This experience was really great, and I will go back to London as soon as I get the chance. I appreciated how kind everyone was in our group, and I hope to see you all again someday!
The experience I had in London was among the best, if not THE best, experience I have had thus far in college. I loved immersing myself in a culture that has so much to offer, and doing so with the awesome class we had! I only wish I would have had more time to spend there, being that there was so much to experience and so little time. I thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of the trip, from discussions in the classrooms, ro museum visits and plays, to visiting all of the pubs. One of my favorite parts of my trip to London was the Florence Nightengale museum. I was so thrilled to be able to incorporate my major and passion, nursing, into one of our trips. Although many of our excursions were medically based, this particular one was centered solely around nursing and the changes that have been made within the profession. I really enjoyed it and learned a lot. Although I had a great time, there were a lot of things that took some getting used to. A major example was all of the walking. I love walking and running, but even still, it was a challenge for me for the first few days to get used to all of the walking. Another challenge for me was the currency conversion. I would often see things that I felt were really cheap, but then I would realize that the price was in pounds rather than dollars. Overall, I had a great time. London is a beautiful city, and has so much to offer. I hope to visit again someday with friends and family so that they can experience London's beauty and culture as well.
My experience in London was great! It is definitely in the top three experiences of my life. It was amazing to see a completely new culture and just soak it in and make every minute count. I got to do almost everything I wanted to do and some things I never thought I would want to do. One of my favorite parts was seeing the Architecture. It was so different from the architecture in the United States, and there was a lot of beautiful architecture. Another great part about that was seeing in person the architecture I learned about in my history class. There is something amazing about seeing a picture of something and wanting to see it in person and finally having the opportunity to see it. I also enjoyed seeing tons of awesome cars. The public transportation was another great experience. I had never been on a subway or anything and it was cool to see how many places you could go on the tube. I also enjoye class a lot. I learned a lot since I had never taken any kind of philosophy course so it was all new to me. Overall, I loved the trip and I can't wait to go back to London and experience the rest of Europe.
